Work

I help complex systems change without breaking the business.

Across startups, enterprise, biotech, banking and telecommunications, my role has repeatedly been to reduce architectural friction while keeping real operations moving.

01

Do not stop the business

Modernization is valuable only if the organization survives the transition. I prefer incremental evolution to disruptive rewrites.

02

Make boundaries real

Service boundaries matter when teams can own them, release them and reason about them without negotiating every change.

03

Scale change, not just traffic

A scalable system lets more people change more parts safely. Throughput is only one dimension of scale.

01 · Biotech

Basepaws → Zoetis

From fragmented startup software to a scalable platform, then into post-acquisition enterprise evolution.

Role
Scaling Architect / Lead Engineer → Team Leader / Scaling Architect

Context
Los Angeles · 2019–2024

The architecture had to grow faster than the company changed.

At Basepaws, the challenge was not to replace everything. It was to connect and gradually evolve a heterogeneous environment spanning e-commerce, laboratory workflows, customer care, veterinary operations and DNA processing.

After the acquisition by Zoetis, the problem changed again: preserve what worked while integrating new enterprise requirements, cloud direction and delivery discipline.

02 · Banking & telecom

Systems where failure is not an option.

Financial transactions, mobile network infrastructure, security, enterprise modernization.

I am most useful when complexity has become too expensive to ignore.
